RAP / Class Log

Class log for the Research, Analysis and Process.

Week 8 / Mid-Term

Mid Term

Good to see each one of you for the Mid-Term review.

Some happier then the others, but in general, I trust my evaluation met your expectation. Please use the Mid-Term grade as a reminder. If you didn’t do well, work harder. If you did well, then do even better. :D

It was nice that some of you have asked me how you can do even better. (Yes, very rarely but I actually do give A+ for excellent students.) In general, I would recommend you to the following:

  1. Spend more time with debriefing, using tools like mind-map and reframing, and you will see more creative opportunities.

  2. Create more options and variations. When you ideate, sketch 50 ideas rather than 5. When you create layout, design a lot of options. Making is thinking.

Aspiration Assignment

Great selections of creative people on Aspiration project :) The creative process that we’ve learned in class is a fundamental framework of a creative process, but their pattern may differ depending on the types of projects, design fields, or even personal aspects. By analyzing or breaking down the creative process of the artists from a variety of disciplines, we can understand what creativity means to them, and even glean insight or inspiration from them.

As a group, please continue researching the chosen creative person’s creative process and creating a visual diagram based on it. The presentation will be scheduled on week 11(11/08) and week 12(11/15).

A Topic Project

Final project for the semester is given. (I almost wanted to call this project pre-thesis.) For the next few weeks, think about topics you’re interested in and do some initial researches. Please feel free to share your thought with me before/after class. The first class discussion is in 3 weeks.

Next

Looking forward to the final presentation on New New York project.
