Welcome back from Spring break :)

Now that you took a sufficient amount of time on researching (reading&observation), analyzing (writing essays), conceptualizing & creating content, you have created the framework for what we’re making. Let’s shift our mode from thinking to making. Let’s now spend more time on production and “design.” We will be revisiting all the projects and start crafting and refining.

We had a final presentation on Project 2 Inhuman Factors. Off to a good start with good ideas and concepts. Now think about the principles of interaction design, feedback, concept model, etc. How does your interface give you feedback? Try to apply those principles to your project when revisiting. Remember that your interface is specifically designed for your persona. Many of you have created a useful and practical interface that “makes sense to everyone,” which the interface may end up being too general. We should go slightly deeper. Go back to your initial premises and address that to your interface. For example, the interface may help people to organize things for your persona, but why does he have an issue with organizing from the first place? Think of the core issue that is causing that problem. Unless we address that, the problem will stay the same. + Build interesting narrative for your interface! Keep working on this project. We will have another presentation on April 17th, week 12.

E2. Type of Spirit / Design Work Final

We will have a final presentation for Type of Spirit exercise design work. But the zine for the exercise is due on April 3rd week 10.

P3. Smoke & Mirrors / Discussion, Choosing Groups

Start of a new project! For this project, an emphasis is on interaction design. Come up with three narratives (you can show them on your laptop), and start on some explorations of why you want to work on this, and why those narratives are the potential narrative for this project. Be convincing and make people want to join your team! We will form groups next week.
